The Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes is located in South Korea, to the southwest of the Jeollanam-do Province. It has been pronounced a Globe Heritage Site in the region.
A principal attraction of the island is its inactive volcano, Hallasan Mountain, the best peak all over South Korea, standing at roughly a mile large, and measures about 175 miles in width. The volcanic activity on the island started in the Cretaceous Era, for the duration of which dinosaurs nonetheless roamed the Earth. The action continued till the early Tertiary Era 65 million many years ago, when the dinosaurs that walked the land ultimately became extinct. The very last documented exercise was about 800 several years ago.
Volcanic rock and soil make up the earth aspects of the island, obtaining been designed by Hallasan. The lake inside of the volcano was said to have shaped approximately 25,000 several years ago.
The island is recognized for its far-reaching network of lava tubes, or oreum in Korean. The streams in which lava once surged have now turn out to be caves and some are the greatest in the complete planet. These tubes have become bases of scientific studies, and are now a popular spot for travelers. Pillar-formed rocks and various shellfish and animal remnants have been located in the metropolis of Seogwipo, which have aided in many researches.
The sights in this volcanic island are undoubtedly well worth capturing, not only for its elegance, but also for how lengthy they have existed.
Geomunoreum has been declared to be the most exciting system of lava tubes in the world. The cave is naturally created with multi-coloured mineral ceilings and floors and darkish-hued partitions created of lava.
Manjanggul is the longest lava tube system and is situated in north Jeju. It was declared as a normal monument in 1970. The “lava turtle, lava pillar, and wing-shaped wall” sights of the Manjang Cave, have been produced by the pouring of lava.
The Seongsan Ilchulbong cone manufactured out of volcanic rock ascending from the ocean helps make for a quite picturesque sight.
The Mount Hallasan National Park is mainly untouched, with trails and a handful of services for administrative applications. In 1966, places within the nationwide park that are above 2,600 feet ended up declared nature sanctuaries. Flora and fauna in this area is abundant and diverse. A lot more than a thousand plant species ended up identified in the perimeter, with roughly 33 indigenous to Jeju. Approximately twenty mammalian, 200 aviary, 8 amphibian, and 8 reptilian species were documented to inhabit the sanctuary.
A quite exciting component of Mount Hallasan is the Pillemot Cave, which dates all the way back to the Paleolithic Era, or the Stone Age. Relics identified inside the cave have confirmed that the residents of the cave lived in that certain era.
Produced by Mom Naturel herself, these types are works of artwork and eternal elegance. The moments they have withstood and the eras they have passed impress on us how actually remarkable and wonderful our globe is.

Entry Title: “Jeju-do & Udo” Entry: “On Friday (7/nine) I flew to Jeju Island, which is about an hour flight departing from Seoul. Jeju-do is a volcanic (Mt. Halla) island at the southern finish of the Korean peninsula. Ten of us from the eapsi group went on this tiny tour we stayed at a bed and breakfast in Seogwipo, a metropolis on the southern conclude of the island. We definitely did not have a extended enough remain to do almost everything there is to see/do in Jeju, but we undoubtedly experimented with to squeeze in as a lot as possible. My very first stop was Hyeopjae seaside, which is on the west aspect of the island, and is portion of Hallim Park (half of our group went to discover the caves of the park, even though my fifty percent was far more intrigued in checking out the beach). The seashore was fairly crowded because the weather conditions was wonderful, though hazy (it was forecast to rain the subsequent day). The water was much warmer than CA beaches I was actually in a position to get in the h2o for an extended period of time without freezing- which is unusual. Hyeopjae is a white colored sand seashore with a lot of volcanic rocks bordering the location, which are fairly distressing to wander on, it turns out. Although we were there, I had this vivid concept to try and generate a where’s waldo type image. So I wandered out into the middle of a big group of Koreans just at …
